Solar eclipse on Jakobshorn
A partial solar eclipse will take place on Wednesday, 12.08.2026. The last partial solar eclipse with such a high degree of obscuration occurred on 11.08.1999.
The natural phenomenon can be observed starting at 18.25 and will reach its peak at 20.18, just before the sun sets at 20.33. At this late hour, the eclipse will be best viewed from Jakobshorn in Davos. Due to the rarity of this spectacle, the Jakobshorn gondola will run a special service between 18.15-19.00 for anyone interested (pedestrians only).
Experts from the World Radiation Center (PMOD/WRC) will be on site to provide fascinating insights into the solar eclipse. Wissensstadt Davos will provide certified solar viewing glasses (limited quantity).
In addition, Sunpeak restaurant will be selling drinks and delicious grilled sausages.
Guests will be transported back down to Davos by the Jakobshorn gondola between 20.30-21.00.
Tickets must be purchased individually at regular prices. The Jakobshorn ticket office will be open from 18.00-19.00. Seasonal and annual passes are valid.
The event will only take place in good weather. The final decision on wheter the event will proceed will be published here by latest 14.00 the day before.
