Davos sounds good

16 to 22 July 2018

From 16 to 22 July 2018, Davos will once again transform into the New Orleans of the Alps!

Incredible musicians from all over the world will perform at various venues throughout the week, enchanting audiences with concerts of New Orleans jazz, traditional jazz, blues, swing, R&B, spirituals and hymns.

Over these seven days, Davos Klosters Sounds Good will host a total of 96 concerts from 17 different music ensembles.

The 18th Davos Jazz Festival is a lively event that offers an unrivalled variety of music. The concerts start in the morning and continue until midnight. While musicians spend the day showcasing their musical talents at the most beautiful locations in Davos, the listeners wander from one to the other, enjoying lively music and a relaxed atmosphere amid the magnificent mountain scenery. In the evenings, the concerts take place in various hotels, bars and restaurants.

This year, we will once again host a concert in one of our mountain Hotels.

Niels von der Leyen is part of the young generation of pianists who have dedicated themselves to authentic boogie-woogie and blues piano. He not only plays renditions of boogie-woogie hits from the genre’s pioneers Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson and Meade Lux Lewis, but also produces his own interpretations of the genre. He’s one of the best boogie-woogie pianists in the world. Andreas Bock has been playing drums for more than 20 years now, and is one of Germany’s best blues drummers (he won the German Blues Award in 2015).
His experience is reflected in his more than 2,000 appearances at every internationally-renowned blues and jazz festival in Europe. Together, they represent the tradition of authentic boogie-woogie and blues duos with the classic combination of piano and drums. However, they are also not afraid to introduce their own innovations and begin a journey into the modern world of contemporary music.
